GAMIAN-Europe was honoured to participate in the 24th World Congress of Psychiatry (WCP 2024), held from 14-17 November 2024 in Mexico City. This global event brought together mental health leaders, professionals, and advocates to share insights, foster collaboration, and shape the future of psychiatry.
Representing GAMIAN-Europe
Our Executive Director, Nigel Olisa, and EU Research Project Manager, Erik Van der Eycken, represented GAMIAN-Europe at this prestigious congress. Erik also had the opportunity to speak during a session about the importance of patient-centred approaches in research and patient perspective on equality, inclusion and transcultural aspects, with a focus on the PSY-PGx project, an EU-funded project that GAMIAN-Europe has been partnering with.
Engaging with the Community
GAMIAN-Europe hosted a booth during the congress, which attracted significant attention from participants. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with many professionals and advocates, share our mission, and exchange ideas on advancing mental health care.
Key Takeaways
- The congress emphasised the importance of collaboration to tackle mental health challenges worldwide.
- Our presence reinforced GAMIAN-Europe’s commitment to ensuring that the patient’s voice is central to discussions on mental health policies and practices.
We extend our gratitude to the World Psychiatric Association (WPA) for organising such an impactful event and to all those who visited our booth. Together, we continue to work towards improving mental health care for all.
