The meeting of the 21st of November will focus on transition of care, which relates to planning, preparing and moving persons affected by mental health problems from child to adult mental health services.
Transition of care is a priority for GAMIAN-Europe and EBC, and fortunately, this topic is gaining traction; the EU-funded MILESTONE project, specifically focusing on this topic is a clear example of this increased attention. The meeting will provide a useful opportunity to discuss the status and impact of this type care as well as identify requirements for improvement.
The objectives of the November meeting are threefold:
- Highlight the crucial importance of continuity of care when moving from child/adolescent to adult services;
- Focus on appropriate and effective patient pathway to ensure a smooth transition, taking ADHD as an example;
- Explore EU actions to ensure policy attention for this topic.
