Celebrating World Mental Health Day: A Successful Antistigma Campaign by GAMIAN-Europe

On October 10th, GAMIAN-Europe launched its impactful World Mental Health Day Campaign, aimed at tackling the stigma and discrimination that continue to surround Major Mental Health Conditions (MHCs). This year’s campaign focused on raising awareness about conditions such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and eating disorders, shining a light on the personal experiences of individuals who face stigma daily.
The campaign featured a powerful animated video, inspired by the personal testimonies of individuals living with MHCs. This video, available on GAMIAN-Europe’s YouTube channel, continues to spread awareness about mental health stigma.

Campaign Highlights and Social Media Success

The campaign garnered incredible support across GAMIAN-Europe’s social media channels. Our messages reached a wide audience, with the campaign generating:

  • Over 67,000 video views across X, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram.
  • More than 1000 engagements (likes, shares, and comments) as people interacted with our content and joined the conversation.
  • 100+ new followers, increasing our reach and expanding the visibility of mental health advocacy.
  • Our website has had over 1000 visits and more than 8000 engagements during this period.

These numbers reflect the growing public interest in addressing the stigma surrounding mental health and the need for more open and compassionate dialogue. In addition to the video, the full World Mental Health Day Report provides valuable insights into how stigma affects various aspects of life, including employment, healthcare, and personal relationships.

A Heartfelt Thanks to the Participants

We want to extend our deepest gratitude to the patients who participated in the creation of the World Mental Health Day Report. Your willingness to share your personal stories and experiences is at the heart of this campaign. Your voices continue to challenge societal stigma and encourage others to speak openly about their mental health struggles.
