European Mental Health Week 2026
Introduction
Mental health remains a key priority across Europe, yet identifying effective and adaptable solutions remains a challenge. While many community-led initiatives are making a real difference, they often remain local and are not easily accessible to others who could benefit from them. This creates a gap between innovation and implementation, limiting opportunities for shared learning and wider impact.
At the same time, organisations, policymakers, and communities are increasingly seeking practical approaches that can be adapted to their specific contexts. However, navigating existing best practices can be complex, particularly when information is fragmented or difficult to apply in real-world settings.
To address this, GAMIAN-Europe launched a new initiative during European Mental Health Week 2026: an interactive quiz titled “Which Best Practice Fits Your Community?”. Introduced as part of the webinar “Finding What Works: Mental Health Best Practices in Europe”, the initiative aims to make best practices more accessible, actionable, and relevant to diverse communities.

The Initiative
At the heart of the project is an interactive, logic-based quiz that guides users through questions and matches them with best practices that best fit their needs and context.
The quiz is structured around six key themes:
- Problem / Need
- Target Group
- Intervention Type
- Delivery Setting
- Resource & Complexity
- System Level
By combining these dimensions, the tool provides a personalised pathway, helping users identify approaches that are both relevant and realistic for their context.

Content and Outputs
The quiz features a curated selection of best practices from across Europe, including contributions from GAMIAN-Europe’s member organisations and initiatives sourced from the European Commission’s Best Practice Portal. It presents users with:
- A best-fit recommendation
- Clear insights into why the match was made
- Additional alternative options
- Practical suggestions for next steps and implementation
Designed as an engaging, accessible discovery tool, the quiz helps users explore solutions more intuitively than traditional databases or reports.
Impact
This initiative aims to increase the visibility of effective mental health practices across Europe by presenting them in a user-friendly and interactive format. It supports knowledge-sharing, encourages cross-border learning, and promotes the adaptation of successful approaches in different contexts.
By helping users identify “what works” for their specific situation, the project bridges the gap between best practice and real-world application, strengthening collaboration and supporting more responsive, community-based mental health systems across Europe.
