GAMIAN-Europe Supports TRUSTING Project Surveys on Psychotic Relapse Prevention

GAMIAN-Europe is supporting the EU-funded TRUSTING Project by promoting two important surveys aimed at improving how relapse risk in mental illness, particularly psychosis, is assessed and monitored across Europe.

Through our involvement in the project, we are encouraging both people with lived experience of mental health services and mental health professionals to share their perspectives. The results will help researchers develop innovative digital tools to support earlier detection and prevention of psychotic relapse.

About the TRUSTING Project

Psychotic disorders often follow a fluctuating course, with periods of recovery interrupted by relapse. When warning signs are recognised early, patients and clinical teams can intervene through medication adjustments, psychological support, or social and community interventions.

The TRUSTING Project explores whether changes in spontaneous speech can signal early relapse risk. Participants record short speech samples via a secure digital platform, which are then analysed using artificial intelligence to detect subtle speech changes linked to emerging psychotic symptoms.

The ultimate aim is to develop a trustworthy, user-friendly monitoring application that can be used from home, helping people at risk of relapse live more independently and with greater confidence.

Why These Surveys Matter

To ensure that new tools reflect real-life needs, the project partners are collecting input from both service users and clinicians. Their experiences will guide the development of practical and acceptable monitoring solutions that complement existing mental health care.

Both surveys are anonymous and voluntary.

Service User Survey (GAMIAN-Europe)

People with experience of mental health care are invited to share how relapse risk is currently assessed and monitored in their treatment and how future tools could better support them.

Contributing to Better Mental Health Care

Relapse can have a significant impact on recovery, quality of life, and health services. By bringing together patient experience, clinical expertise, and technological innovation, the TRUSTING Project aims to strengthen early intervention and improve long-term support.

GAMIAN-Europe encourages eligible participants to take part and help shape future mental health care across Europe.
