Inaugural Session of the European Parliament Intergroup on Mental Health in Strasbourg

On 3 April 2025, the first meeting of the European Parliament Intergroup on Mental Health took place, marking a crucial step in advancing mental health on the EU policy agenda. Chaired by Alex Agius Saliba (S&D) and Maria Walsh (EPP), with the support of co-chairs Jana Toom and Tilly Metz, the meeting brought together Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) and key stakeholders to define strategic priorities for the 2025 work plan, adopt the Intergroup’s Terms of Reference, and launch the year’s collaborative work.

GAMIAN-Europe is proud to contribute to this vital initiative, advocating for the inclusion of lived experience in shaping EU mental health policies. We are committed to ensuring that individuals with mental health conditions have a central role in the decision-making process, driving policies that reflect their needs and experiences.

The session also featured a presentation from Mental Health Europe, discussing opportunities for engagement in European Mental Health Week 2025. This event will serve as a key moment to raise awareness and foster greater collaboration across the European Union.

GAMIAN-Europe is excited to continue working alongside the Intergroup and our partners towards a strong, inclusive, and impactful mental health strategy in Europe.
