Over 700 people took part in the main event for World Mental Health Day 2025, organised by the Castilla y León Mental Health Federation in Aranda de Duero (Burgos) under the motto “We share vulnerability, let’s defend our mental health.”
The gathering brought together associations, professionals, families, and institutional representatives to emphasise that mental health is a common good and a collective responsibility.
Federation president Elena Briongos Rica highlighted the importance of addressing mental health through social determinants—such as employment, housing, and education—and linked it to social justice.
Participants called for a shift toward a biopsychosocial and community-based model, moving beyond a purely biomedical approach. Key demands included:
- Universal community-based care with multidisciplinary teams.
- Integration of mental health into all public policies.
- Promotion of emotional well-being in schools, workplaces, and digital spaces.
- Protection of rights and active participation of people with lived experience.
- Greater investment in trained professionals and territorial equity.
- Psychosocial support in emergencies.
The year’s motto was interpreted as a call for empathy, social cohesion, and collective action. The event concluded with a manifesto reading, a march through the town, and a community meal.
