Today, GAMIAN-Europe, in collaboration with the European Migraine and Headache Alliance (EMHA), hosted a webinar on “Migraine and Mental Health: A Call for Integrated Care”.
The event brought together clinicians, researchers, patient advocates, and policymakers. Speakers highlighted the urgent need for holistic approaches that address both migraine and mental health.
Building on previous initiatives, the discussion explored the two-way relationship between migraine, anxiety, and depression. It also focused on the stigma that many patients face in healthcare and workplace settings.
This was our most successful webinar yet, with almost 100 participants in the audience. The lively Q&A session brought forward thoughtful questions and reflections that added real depth to the conversation.
Our distinguished speakers included Elena Ruiz de la Torre (Executive Director, EMHA), Dr Chiara Samele (Consultant, GAMIAN-Europe), Prof. Dimos-Dimitrios Mitsikostas (Co-chair, Headache Scientific Panel, EAN), Dr med. Reto Agosti (CEO & Chief Physician, Headache Center Hirslanden), Dr JF Leader, and Claire, who shared her valuable insights as an expert by experience.
The panel underlined the social and economic costs of migraine and mental health comorbidities. In addition, they issued a strong call for integrated care and policy action to improve patient support.
