The Association for the Support of Depressed and Bipolar Patients (ADEB) was founded on June 5, 1991, by a group of patients, family members, doctors, and mental health technicians to provide support and information to unipolar and bipolar patients, their families, and the community in general.
During 2025, with more than 5,000 members, ADEB organised numerous activities, such as psychopedagogical sessions on topics related to bipolar disorder and depression, for our members and the community at large. These initiatives aim to promote mental health literacy, essential for combating stigma and fostering full psychosocial rehabilitation. We also provided nearly 2,000 clinical psychology consultations, held dozens of self-help group sessions, offered professional assistance and guidance to our members, and established several national and international partnerships to foster a more comprehensive and inclusive approach to treating people with mood disorders and supporting their families. This year, ADEB also renovated its headquarters in Lisbon, as well as our facilities in Porto and Coimbra. We also expanded our team of specialists to provide more and better support in the area of depression and bipolar disorder. Our members, those with pathologies and their families, as well as healthcare professionals and volunteers, work side by side, both at the management and board levels of ADEB, as well as in its multidisciplinary team, and in the countless activities we have developed over the years.
