Titled “Which Best Practice Fits Your Community?”, the quiz offers an engaging way to explore real mental health best practices from across Europe and discover approaches that can be adapted to different local contexts.
Finding What Works in Mental Health
Across Europe, many innovative and community-led initiatives are improving mental health support. However, these best practices often remain local and are not always easy to find or apply elsewhere.
The new GAMIAN-Europe quiz was created to address this challenge. Rather than presenting best practices in a static list, the tool guides users through a series of questions and matches them with initiatives that align with their priorities, target groups, available resources, and desired level of impact.
The quiz is structured around six key themes:
- Problem or Need
- Target Group
- Intervention Type
- Delivery Setting
- Resource and Complexity
- System Level
Based on users’ answers, the quiz generates personalised recommendations, explains why each practice is a good fit, and suggests additional options to explore.
Best Practices from Across Europe
The quiz currently includes more than 30 best practices, combining contributions from GAMIAN-Europe member organisations with initiatives sourced from the European Commission’s Best Practice Portal. This creates a diverse collection of community-led and evidence-informed approaches to mental health promotion, prevention, treatment, and recovery.
GAMIAN-Europe hopes the quiz will encourage cross-border learning and inspire organisations and communities to adapt successful approaches to their own settings.
Webinar Showcases Mental Health Best Practices in Europe
The quiz was officially launched during the webinar “Finding What Works: Mental Health Best Practices in Europe”, held on 6 May 2026 as part of European Mental Health Week.
The webinar brought together speakers from across Europe to share practical examples of community-led mental health support, including recovery-oriented approaches from Finland, anti-stigma initiatives from Croatia, and personal assistance models from Spain.
Participants also heard a policy perspective from Mental Health Europe and took part in a panel discussion on how best practices can be adapted and scaled across different countries and communities.
