How to become a member
All organisations or persons, being personally or professionally involved in the field of Mental Health can become member of GAMIAN-Europe. GAMIAN-Europe has Full members and Associated members.
FULL MEMBERSHIP
Any non-profit body or non-profit organisation, concerned with or engaged in support of patients with mental illness and those who care for them, having patient representation on its board and having activities realising patient participation can apply for full membership provided they are resident or based in Europe.(WHO definition)
Therefore a declaration of honor has to be sent in (online version available)
Membership fee is 150 €/year
Becoming a full member you are not alone any more:
- Now you are the part of the powerful and developing movement that unites like-minded organisations throughout Europe, covering all spectrum of psychiatric disorders.
- You can share experiences and gain a greater insight into the illness and the treatments available, whether pharmacological, psychological or complementary.
- Being predominantly users’ driven association, GAMIAN-Europe includes also professional organisations, providing the members a unique opportunity of collaboration and discussion different points of view in the atmosphere of friendship and equality.
Full members also get the following benefits:
- A quarterly newsletter providing useful and up to date information on treatments, activities of the organisation and its members, activities of governmental and other bodies operating within Europe and miscellaneous items pertaining to mental health.
- The opportunity to attend our annual convention where we are able to sponsor the travel cost up to 400 € and the whole hotel costs of at least one delegate from each member organisation.
- The opportunity to participate in pan-European surveys on various aspects of mental health where the focus and emphasis is very much on the quality of life and other issues specifically aimed at patients.
- The opportunity to participate in training programs of particular relevance to patient organisations working within the mental health field
- The ability to influence the thinking of national and European politicians and civil servants within the mental health field and to raise awareness of the problems experienced by people with a psychiatric condition.
ASSOCIATED MEMBERSHIP
Any company, organisation, body or individual that seeks to promote the work of GAMIAN-Europe and supports its aims and objectives shall be eligible for associate membership, regardless of where they may be resident or based, even if they don’t they realise the full members criteria. Every individual or legal person who is engaged in advocacy action for mental illness or whose activities focus on the improvement of mental health or treatment of mental illness, will affiliate in the condition that he agrees with the goals and objectives of GAMIAN-Europe as provided in its Statutes)
Membership fee:
- as individual: 100 €/year,
- as non-european association 100€/year,
- as family association: 150 €/year,
- as professionals association: 250 €/year
- corporate membership: 4.900 €/year
Associated members also get the following benefits:
- A quarterly newsletter providing useful and up to date information on treatments, activities of the organisation and its members, activities of governmental and other bodies operating within Europe and miscellaneous items pertaining to mental health.
- The opportunity to attend our annual convention where we are able to sponsor hotel costs (accommodation and meals covered) of at least one delegate from each member organisation.(no travel reimbursement)
- The opportunity to participate in pan-European surveys on various aspects of mental health where the focus and emphasis is very much on the quality of life and other issues specifically aimed at patients.
- The opportunity to participate in training programs of particular relevance to patient organisations working within the mental health field
- The ability to influence the thinking of national and European politicians and civil servants within the mental health field and to raise awareness of the problems experienced by people with a psychiatric condition.
