GAMIAN-Europe’s president Peter Keri travelled to Ankara to represent mental health patients

As part of the pan-European Mental Health Coalition, GAMIAN-Europe’s president Péter Kéri is travelling to Ankara to represent mental health patients during the second WHO meeting to be held on 23-24th November. Challenges, goals, and actions to improve mental health in Europe are to be discussed.

The coalition is a flagship initiative of the WHO Regional Office for Europe which was launched in September last year in response to requests to address the mental health challenges and disparities faced by communities across the WHO European Region, particularly in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The first meeting was held in May this year and achieved to identify some of the main challenges including mental health stigma, insufficient data, knowledge, legislation and a lack of consensus on what constitutes good practices.
